More and more children and teenagers are coming to Towson Acupuncture Associates for pain relief with acupuncture and massage. While some know how they injured themselves, there are others that have no cause for their pain. Often times, acupuncture is the last resort after going back and forth to doctors offices, trying to find the root of the pain. Getting acupuncture right after the injury accelerates the healing process and relieves pain at a faster rate.
Athletes using Chinese Medicine
It is very common that athletes get acupuncture and most articles tend to put the spotlight on football players. But this time, the featured athlete is a boxer named Anthony Joshua. Typically when you read an article about athletes and acupuncture, the treatment is more towards the extreme. A normal acupuncture session uses around 20-30 needles on average but some patients require less. When using the cupping technique, the usual amount of cups used is between 2 and 4. So while these articles can take us by surprise, it is wonderful seeing athletes using Chinese Medicine as a part of their healing process.

Our featured post: ‘Tis the season for Light, Laughter and Music
‘Tis the season for light, laughter and music. Chinese medicine also tells us it’s a time for rest and solitude. This can be a tricky balance and often we find ourselves frazzled and tired. Give yourself permission to cut back and just do the minimum. Of course make sure the kids have a magical Christmas, go to a few parties, and then sleep in and rest! Holidays will go better and actually be more joyous. Also come in for your seasonal acupuncture tune-up. It will feel wonderful and you will sleep better, have fewer colds and flus, and generally feel better!
The Seasonal Tune-up
Chinese medicine tells us we change with the seasons and are part of nature, no matter how advanced our technology has become. This is why it’s important to come in for an acupuncture tune up as the seasons change. To see a discussion of this concept click on the video.
